Established 1867

Club Foundation:

The club was founded in 17/6/1867 during a meeting at the Globe Inn (now the Weeroona Hotel). About a dozen members joined and paid their subs, then had a few preliminary kicks in the park with a first rate ball obtained from Adelaide. The first match was planned for the 20th on the ground west of Mr Shepherdson's place (which was near where the town hall is now).

The first recorded official game between Wallaroo (in blue) and Moonta (in pink) was held in 1874 - https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/110367535

The club continued to exist in much the same form until present times, surviving without mergers or folding. In the late 60s the club nickname changed from the Seagulls to the Bulldogs, and red was added to the club colours. Before we wore blue and white.
